Modern Teen Style | Dalena Carroll

Today’s featured session is from Dalena of Dee Carroll Photo!

I have had my eye on her work for a while now and when I saw an image from this session, I knew I had to feature it so everyone could enjoy it!

Here is what Dalena had to say about the session:

This session was shot in downtown Knoxville, Tennessee. We started shooting around 4:30pm inside the Juice Bar at Market Square and then moved to one of my favorite alleys. We decided to head to the top of one of the parking garages to finish our session as the sun was beginning to set.

The gear used:

This session was shot with the Sony A7RIII camera and Sony 85mm f/1.4 GM lens

The inspiration behind the session:

After meeting Raigan this summer I knew I wanted to do a shoot with her downtown. I love shooting downtown with tweens and teens. I love the atmosphere, the structures, textures, all the lights and being in the city. I guess it brings out the kid in me and makes me feel full of life. There’s just something amazing about shooting downtown! It makes my heart happy!

Modern Teen Style | Violet Ray Photography

Today’s featured session is from Trina of Violet Ray Photography!

This session came through our feed and we reached out to see more.    Let us know your thoughts!

Here is what Trina had to say about the session:

This session was done for a teen who was running for the Miss Montana rodeo pageant. Freja had been working with her mule, Newly, and this session was geared towards the western riding showmanship competitions.

The gear used:

Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 85mm 1.2, and a reflector

The inspiration behind the session:

Freja’s love of her mules, the showmanship she spends hours upon hours working on, her love of all her farm critters, and of course the pride in the achievements she has already won was the inspiration behind this session. Freja asked me to shoot her session because she wanted couture elements combined with with those of the western Montana rodeo life to run for the teen Miss Montana pageant.

Hair and makeup artist:

Freja took great care and pride in picking out her own wardrobe knowing what she needed for competition photos. She also did her own hair and makeup as well!

Loving this fun urban dance session.

Here is what Valerie had to say about the session:

“On Pointe”

Shot in Seattle on the rooftop of a parking structure, in the alleyway and in the crosswalk.
Dancer/Model is Sydney Marith with SMG Models.

The gear used:

Shot with Nikon D90 Camera
Lens:50mm & Kit Lens

The inspiration behind the session:

I have been wanting to branch out into dance sessions and I recently met Sydney’s mom through another client/friend.
She let me know that her daughter recently got her pointe shoots and would love to do a dance shoot.
So we shared ideas and met up in Seattle for this epic shoot.

Modern Teen Style | Rebekah Gregg Photography

Today’s featured session is from Rebekah of Rebekah Gregg Photography!

Loving this fun urban vibe.

Here is what Rebekah had to say about the session:

This session was done to show that guys with incredible style need an equally incredible location to match!

The gear used:

For this session I used my Nikon D800E with my 85mm lens. I also took a roll of Fuji Pro 400H film with my Nikon F100 and my 50mm lens but I’m still waiting to get those images back from the lab and I can’t wait to see them!

The inspiration behind the session:

I recently asked a couple former female clients, “Which guys at your school have great style?” One of the answers I received kind of surprised me. “None! They all just wear sweats and beat up tees.” I get it, guys; it’s just easier to roll out of bed and not worry about what you’re going to wear when you have so many other things to concern yourself with. There’s academics and athletics and family stuff. But now and then there is a guy who stands out with a style all his own and when one of my clients told me about Jace I knew I had to get him in front of my camera! His style is modern and casual. He’s an actor and singer with an incredible voice in addition to a confident sense of self. When I asked him to model for me he asked if his little sister could come along also because she’s hoping to do some modeling one day. Their style really determined our location because it had to be somewhere just as unique as they are and the subway in Atlanta became our perfect background!

Modern Teen Style | Valluvcreations

Today’s featured session is from Valeria of Valluvcreations!

This retro session caught my eye right away!

Here is what Valerie had to say about the session:

Hippie Vibes Only!

This was a fun shoot, shot in pike place market in Seattle Washington on a rare sunny spring day.
“Be soft.
Do not let the world make you hard.
Do not let pain make you hate.
Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness.”
-Iain S. Thomas

With models: Lucianna, Seneca, and Sydney.

The gear used:

Camera: Nikon D90
Lens: 85mm

Clothing: Models Own & Vintage Finds.

The inspiration behind the session:

I have been wanting to do a hippie shoot, and I know most hippie shoots are shot are in fields or forest.
But I wanted to change it up just a little and try to tie in some of the city and old-school vibe (cobblestone streets and 70s clothing) to get something fun and different.

Modern Teen Style | Chantal Erickson Photography

Today’s featured session is from Chantal Erickson of Chantal Erickson Photography!

Absolutely loved the location and the subject in this session!

Here is what Chantal had to say about the session:

I absolutely love sessions where my client gives me full control and lets my artistic juices flow! Sometimes this is not easy especially when you arrive and see an old torn apart couch and washing machine that had been dumped at the location site! The best part is Amaya knew my goal was to provide her images that reflected her unique style and trusted I would do just that. Sometimes the most amazing shoots are not conformed to a particular style or idea rather just letting creativity lead the way. Many people would have seen this location as a dumping ground but I saw magic in the making!!!
My only request was bold makeup and an edgy look. My hair and makeup artist nailed it with the dramatic eye and faux hawk. Amaya wore a custom gown and jacket from The Porcelain Tea Cup and the rest just fell into place!

The gear used:

Canon 5D Markiii
85mm 1.8
50mm 1.4

The inspiration behind the session:

I was originally inspired by my clients custom gown and her unique look. There was something about this run down abandoned rice mill that drew me in and I immediately knew it was perfect for Amaya’s session!

Hair and Makeup:

Hair/Makeup: Polished by Jessica

Model Name: Amaya
