So it’s Thanksgiving in just two days and I thought it would be fun to do a little “Inspired By” feature that plays off of the classically depicted fashion from the illustrations of what the world knows as the “Pilgrims and Indian’s” from the first Thanksgiving.

Black, or dark blue dresses with white collars, oxford-type shoes, and wide brimmed hats seemed to be key elements in the styles of early settler’s known as “Pilgrims” of the early 1600’s. Today, we can still find collared swing dresses in the same tones as the old days, and even in prestigious collections from designers like Valentino! Paired with a modern pair of low oxfords, knee socks for some spunk, and a fun, stylish wide brimmed black hat, and you’ll be ready for a Thanksgiving feast in true “Pilgrim” fashion!

For the Native American “Indian” style, you can pretty much find something in any store these days. Many of the items inspired by this style are making their way into the current Boho trend. Adorable suede skirts with or without fringe, fringe boots or moccasins, headbands, and feathers, are just a few items making a huge appearance in today’s fashion world. Top it off with some beautiful turquoise jewelry and you’ve got not only a look you can get away with for photos, but also one that would look super cute at Thanksgiving dinner!

I think it would be super fun to plan a Thanksgiving dinner where the guests dressed as a modern take on “Pilgrims & Indians”, dont’ you?! Are you planning on dressing up for Thanksgiving?
