Today I’m excited to share a beautiful Sweet 16 session with all of you! The feature comes to us from Lauren Blair Photography in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Here’s what Lauren had to say about her inspiration for the session: “I was inspired by my subject! She is a super fashionable girl so I just wanted her to shine through in all of the images. She definitely has a “modern” edge to her style so we started at an urban spot and then finished up in the field for some beautiful backlit images.”

Lauren also added, “Celestene’s mom contacted me to do a Sweet 16 shoot for her daughter so that they would have images to display at her big birthday bash! We had a great time designing her shoot and I brought along a few props to make her session special!”

I’m so excited to share this session from Studio B-Benton Photography in Rescue, CA. My jaw just dropped when I saw this fun, steampunk styled session.

Here’s what Scot had to say about the inspiration for this session:

“Sharon and I have been wanting to shoot a steampunk style session for for some time now. We love trying new ideas and pushing ourselves and our photography so we wanted to use a little girl instead of one of our senior models. We enjoy coming up with and shooting new ideas. This is how we find out what works, and just as important, what doesn’t work in shooting a new style, set or lighting.

When one of our current senior models Savannah needed new headshots for a pageant she was entering and was bringing Make Up and Hair Artists Austin and Kara we knew this was our chance. We asked Savannah to bring her little sister, 11 year old Olivia along for her own photoshoot. Olivia was SUPER excited and we had everything set for a fun and exciting photoshoot.”

Scot also added details about the set up for this session. He added, “We started in studio using a single old fashion light bulb. I didn’t have an old fashion light socket so I cut the end off a power cord and taped it to the bulb with electricians tape. The lightbulb lit up her face beautifully but the shadows were too strong. I added a large softbox with the modeling light as low as it would go. This added just the right amount of light so we could see her dress.

We then went to the “white room”, one of our outside sets. Olivia sat on and under our mantel and was lit by one AB800.

Next we shot by some oak trees next to our studio, also lit by an AB800 with ambient light for fill and rim.”

Happy Monday!! This week’s session features Shellie Mooney Photography from Las Vegas! She shared with us a teen session she did with Ella – heres what she had to say about it, ” This is Ella, a 15 year old sophomore in high school. She had just recently moved here from Oregon. She has such a sweet personality and I really wanted to make sure that came through in the session. We chose her wardrobe together and headed outdoors to this beautiful location. I just love the golden light and how it plays with her eyes and hair. The weather was just perfect, which is rare in Las Vegas. We just had so much fun.”

“I got a call from a mother who wanted to capture her son Tanner for his 8th grade graduation. I love shooting H.S. seniors so I was excited to do, but as the time got closer, I started to worry! I didn’t know what to expect, but then I started to stress and worried that it might be awkward!

But then when mom pulled up with him, I thought I was going to have to pull my jaw up off the ground! He was not only such a handsome young man, but he was a complete ‘natural’ in front of the camera!”
