Thanksgiving is over and winter is officially here! It’s now time to bust out all your favorite winter clothing and accessories! One of my favorite winter accessories is the snood. No, not the crocheted hair net worn in the Victorian age, but the sort of “scarf meets hood” version that’s trending this winter 2015. It resembles an infinity scarf, but is big enough to cover the whole neck, and can be stretched up over the back of the head to wear as a hood. It’s a fun, versatile piece that can look great with jeans and a sweater, or it can be just the right touch to give any outfit a bit of flair, while helping to keep you nice and warm.
Most snoods are crocheted or knitted, but they can also be made from various types of fabric as well. This year you’ll see lots of faux fur snoods making their way into the fashion world. They can be found pretty much everywhere from Forever21 to Urban Outfitters. Most snoods can be found in the range of $20, but can go up from there depending on fabric and manufacturer.
The snood would also make the perfect accessory for a winter photo shoot! With it’s versatility, you can get several different looks in your photos. A fur snood would look particularly lovely for a snowy photo shoot, adding just the right amount of winter whimsy to the set.
And guess what guys…you can wear them too! Snoods can look great and super stylish on men as well, especially the big cable knit variety!
So be sure to add a snood to your winter wardrobe this year if you haven’t already! If you’re having a winter stylized photo shoot featuring a snood, share with us! Email a couple photos to info@seniorstyleguide.com for a chance to be featured on the blog! And in the meantime, be sure to follow us on Instagram for a daily dose of fashion @mdernteen.
