Pantone Spring 2016 Color Trends – Lilac Grey

Hello all you fashionable people! I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling the anxiousness of the impending last day of school, and I can’t wait for summer to officially be here. I’ve been scoping out some cute summer clothing trends and I can’t wait to share them with you! But for today,  we will complete our countdown of Pantone’s Spring 2016 color picks. Yep, you heard that right, today we will highlight our last color on the list. If you haven’t been following along until now, we’ve been introducing Pantone’s Spring 2016 color line, one by one over the past several weeks. You can read our first post about it here, along with the introduction to our first color “Peach Echo”. To catch up on the other colors, check out the following links to their individual posts:

Our last color of the collection is called “Lilac Grey”, and just like the name sounds, it’s a grey with just a hint of lilac purple. It’s a great anchor color and like most of Pantone’s picks this spring, it can be worn on its own too. We put together a few ways to wear it, to help you introduce it into your own spring/summer 2016 wardrobe.
First we have a floral print tie-waist cami slip dress. We’ve balanced out the lilac tones, such as these fabulous Gianvito Rossi Roma suede pumps, with some silver, such as this gorgeous Stella McCartney chain strap purse. This piece is a great example of wearing Lilac Grey on it’s own.
Lilac Grey

Next I have a long cami-dress (gotta love those summer dress styles!) in Lilac Grey, but to bring out more of the purple hue, I’ve paired it with some Lilac accessories. I’m in love with those fringe ankle boots, and the outfit pairs up perfectly with the Lilac Grey fedora!

Lilac Grey 2

For our last example, I wanted to show you how you can use Lilac Grey as an anchor for another color pick. So we paired it up with one of our previous Pantone Spring 2016 colors “Buttercup”. I think these two colors go together beautifully, don’t you?! And these high wasted trousers paired with a simple crop, with matching strappy heels makes this outfit look sleek and sophisticated.

Graduation Season | Eye on Fashion | Modern Teen Style

Graduation season is coming. For some schools it is already here and that means parties, picnics, bbq’s, ceremonies, and celebrations galore! But what will you wear?! For bbq’s and picnics the attire is pretty standard: casual with a bit of Summer flare fun. But for the ceremony itself what is the appropriate guest attire? Lucky for you, I’m about to show you 😉

graduation1

Since you are the guest of someone graduating the idea is to be appropriate but not too flashy – you don’t want to take the attention away from the graduate who is celebrating their big day, after all. Look for clothes you might wear to Sunday church or an evening school play. Nothing with rips or tears, stains, or anything that is too revealing. Summer or Spring dresses are a PERFECT option while clean white or dark jeans with a pretty blouse and a nice wedge are another great way to go!

graduation2

Consider the three outfits above. All three are cute, stylish, and say “this is a big deal and I’m proud to be here supporting you so I dressed up a little.” Come on now, you know that’s exactly what these outfits are saying 😉 But none of them are so dressy that it seems like you’re trying too hard – they are the perfect combination of dressy casual – the perfect graduation ceremony outfit!

What will YOU wear this graduation season?

Pantone Spring 2016 Color Trends – Fiesta

Hi guys! Well it’s officially May, and the countdown to summer is getting shorter! And so is our list of Pantone’s Spring 2016 color palette. We will only have one more color to introduce after we highlight today’s pick.  Today we are going to show you some cute spring/summer outfits using  Pantone’s Spring 2016 color “Fiesta”. This hue is a red-orange, and it’s name matches it perfectly. And in our opinion, it’s a great summer color for the beach, a night out with friends, or even everyday casual wear. Look below for some outfit idea’s we’ve put together using this vibrant shade!
For those of you who haven’t been following along until now, we’ve been introducing Pantone’s Spring 2016 color line, one by one over the past several weeks. You can read our first post about it here, along with the introduction to our first color “Peach Echo”. To catch up on the other colors, check out the following links to their individual posts:
Our first ensemble today matches our “Fiesta” color with a nod to a modernized version of old Latin American style. We have this lovely lace dress from H&M paired with some fabulous Gianvito Rossi lace up suede ankle boots, faux suede purse, and a beautiful flower crown. Top it off with a great red lipstick and you’re set for a night out!
Fiesta 1

For this next outfit, we took our inspiration off these great floral printed, fringe shorts. The lovely pleated top we paired it with makes the look a bit more chic. A few cute accessories like this pair of Kate Spade floral sandals, and this adorable macrame purse, complete this beautiful summer look.

Fiesta 2

And since it’s getting so close to beach time, we had to be sure to throw in a beach-worthy outfit for you. We found this Tommy Hilfiger one-piece bathing suit and paired it with a very festive floral kimono, raffia sunhat, and matching wedges. Practical AND stylish!

Fiesta 5

For this next sample, we went a little on the wild side so we can show off an edgier look using “Fiesta”. Nothing goes with red better than black, it’s a fashion combo that never gets old. Here we’ve paired a simple but cute crop top with a long black tulle skirt. We found these fantastic Dr Martins in our celebrated color. (We swear they have a pair for every outfit these days!) Some rings, a velvet choker, and a great hat complete the edgy look we wanted to show you.

Fiesta 3

For our last creation, we wanted to show you how simple you can be, but still make a statement. We have this chiffon cami and some boyfriend jeans. By pairing them with some great strappy sandal heels, and a cute pair of shades, it makes it more than just an everyday outfit. But adding these amazing Gucci accessories takes if even farther! Of coarse, that’s dreaming for most of us! Ha! But hey, a girls’ allowed to dream right!?

Fiesta 4

And there you have it! Our“Fiesta” inspiration for your spring/summer wardrobe styling! Next time we’ll be featuring our final Pantone color “Lilac Grey”.  Be sure to check in with us everyday here, and on Instagram @mdernteen for more fashion and photo inspiration! Thanks for stopping in!

Eye on Fashion/Inspired by Prince

The world lost an incredible artist last week. When Prince died, he left a legacy of music, storytelling and of course, fashion. He was famous for his outrageous outfits filled with lace, ruffles and his favorite color, purple. He was flamboyant and stylish and knew how to wear a suit. I’ve chosen three of my favorite styles to help you emulate Prince’s iconic style.

Purple was Prince’s signature color. Even his guitar was purple! I love this color because there are so many shades to choose from! Get your purple on here.

Prince loved to wear ruffled shirts under his brightly colored suits. Big or small, ruffles add romance and softness to any outfit. Here are some ideas for incorporating ruffles into your everyday wardrobe. Buying info here.

Prince loved lace and his legacy lives on in these gorgeous lace tops! Pair with your favorite pair of skinny jeans and heels and you’re ready to rock. Find these looks here.

Hi guys! Can you believe it’s almost May already!? Only one more month of school and it will officially be summa time! Woot! And for today, we are going to show you some cute spring/summer outfits using  Pantone’s Spring 2016 color “Iced Coffee”. This hue is sort of a cross between tan and beige. It makes a beautiful accent color, and can even stand on it’s own.
So let’s get to it and show you some of the looks we’ve put together to show you how to best bring”Iced Coffee” into your wardrobe, and how we like to wear it!
First we have a nod to this color’s namesake, by creating this little coffee shop inspired ensemble. Using a flowy tank in “iced coffee”, we’ve paired it up with some cute floral print shorts, and some fabulous green suede lace up boots. An adorable leather fringe purse and beaded cuff add just the right touch to this hipster vibe outfit.
Iced Coffee

For our second outfit, we have a lovely sheer floral blouse, paired with some sleek flare-legged “iced coffee” trousers. Accessorized with these delicious Jimmy Choo ankle boots and a big floppy hat, and you will be sure to look chic enough for photos or any occasion.

Iced Coffee 2

For our final ensemble, we’ve warmed up an “iced coffee” flowy crepe top with some warm camel colored accents, for a fun and flirty “boho” style. Pairing the right brown hues can add depth to a natural looking style. We love the Steve Madden floppy hat with feather accent, and those awesome suede ankle booties too!

Be Inspired By…. | Zendaya | Eye on Fashion

You want a style maven who TRULY dresses to the beat of her own drum? Then today’s Eye on Fashion “Be Inspired by….” post is definitely for you! Today I want you to be inspired by Disney channel’s K.C. Undercover star, Zendaya!

z

It has been a long time since I have seen a teen (she’s only 19) who is SO confident and eclectic in her wardrobe choices. From Sun Goddess to a three piece animal and coral print number, to fully covered in light pink country style, all the way to a male-inspired suit — I  mean, she really wears anything when it comes to her own personal style. Crazy prints, bright colors, amazing textures, unique silhouettes – the girl rocks it all!

z2

Zendaya’s television character may be a bit more subdued in her wardrobe choices, but in every day life she is not afraid to ROCK that red carpet anyway she pleases. We should all take a note from Zendaya and give our craziest wardrobe ideas a chance. What is one thing you’ve been DYING to rock but are a bit unsure if you could “pull it off?” Maybe it’s a crop top or a fabulous new animal print. Maybe it’s festival wear or neon colors. Whatever it is I urge you to take some of Zendaya’s confidence and give it a whirl! You’ll be surprised what you can pull off if you just tell yourself you look good. It’s true! Walk around like you OWN that look and the confidence will rub off on those around you. Give it a shot! I dare ya 😉

Pantone Spring 2016- Snorkel Blue

Hello everyone! I hope you’re all enjoying spring! Before we know it, school will be out, and summer will be in full swing!
Today I’m going to introduce you to Pantone’s Spring 2016 color “Snorkel Blue”. In my opinion, it’s sort of a cross between Navy and Royal blue. It’s a beautiful bold color, and it’s going to rock summer clothing styles for sure this year!
For those of you who haven’t been following along until now, we’ve been slowly introducing Pantone’s Spring 2016 color line over the past several weeks. You can read our first post about it here, along with the introduction to our first color “Peach Echo. So far we’ve covered:
Be sure to follow the links to see some great outfit ideas featuring each of the colors!
But for today, let’s dive in and see some favorites we’ve chosen to highlight “Snorkel Blue”!
For our first look today, we’ve chosen a simple and flirty combo of jean shorts and a lovely crochet racerback style cami tank. Pair it with a cute pair of sunglasses and flipflop style sandals, and you’ll be ready for a walk on the beach! Don’t forget a fun sunhat to block the sun, and this cute little fringe wristlet that is the perfect size for carrying a small bottle of sunscreen and some cash for the boardwalk ice cream vendor!
Pantone Snorkel Blue 2

Our second outfit takes the beach look up a notch and is comfy enough for lunch on the boardwalk, but sleek enough for a yacht party too! We’ve paired this flowy flared-sleeve top with some white capri length jeans and some adorable Dee Keller Logan canvas wedge sandals. A matching raffia hat and Michael Kors tote finish this outfit off with plenty of sophistication.

Pantone Snorkel Blue

For our last outfit, we dressed it back down with a bit of a comfy boho feel with this simple spaghetti strapped swing dress. The Chan Luu leather wrap bracelet pulls in that boho vibe, but you could also dress it up a bit more by adding some cute wedges too. Pull in a printed kimono and rattan sun hat to complete the look!

Simple Street Style | Focusing on YOU | Eye on Fashion

When we think about our wardrobe we often consider all of the accessories we can add, which layers we can throw on, and all of the ways we can take our wardrobe to the next level. I’m totally guilty of it! Heck, I even talk it up every other week in my Eye on Fashion posts: earrings, shoes, jackets, embellishments, you name it! But what if I told you the new  “it” look is the complete opposite and that “less is more?”

Simple. Clean. Street Style.

That’s where it’s at.
clean1

Have you ever seen those “stars in real life” photos of models where they’re wearing very basic looks? A tank top, some jeans, hair pulled back, and maybe a pair of heels or kicks? No patterns, no flashy colors or embellishments – just plain, muted colored, comfy clothing. That’s the look you want. It says “I’m comfortable in my own skin and with who I am and I don’t need to distract you with a bunch of accessories or flashy colors.” Focusing on basic clothing pieces draws attention TO the person and not away – allowing us to see your beautiful face, personality, and all around kick butt persona!

 clean2

See how all of the women above are wearing a muted color palette and letting who THEY are do the talking? I just love how clean they look without trying too hard, don’t you? It’s like they’re saying “I don’t need anything but my confidence to rock this day!” and I just LOVE that!!

When trying to create your own clean street style aim for grey, white, black, and muted pinks, greens, and browns to create your look. Pair a casual solid color top with your favorite jeans (baggy or straight leg – either will work), throw on your favorite pair of kicks (make sure they’re clean and not a bright color), grab your favorite sunnies, and GO!

This look is clearly focused on the woman wearing the clothes rather than the clothes themselves. Take a cue from this look and own who you are and don’t be afraid of it. It’s the beautiful thing that makes you YOU and this style celebrates that!

Pantone Spring 2016 – Green Flash

We’re back again, working our way through each one of Pantone’s Spring 2016 color picks! In case you haven’t been following along, click here to view the first post about it. We’ve also highlighted Peach Echo, the crazy popular duo Rose Quartz & Serenity, Limpet Shell. and Buttercup.

Today we’re highlighting Pantone’s Spring 2016 color pick “Green Flash”. It’s not quite neon green, but packs the same punch! It goes well with an array of complimentary colors, and today we’re going to show you some of our favorites.

One of the best ways to wear Green Flash is to pair it up with denim. Yep, good ol’ denim shorts or pants, will keep this crazy color simple yet fun. We love this loose fitting knit top, and think it’s the perfect accompaniment to some high wasted jean shorts. We’ve kept it real with some flip flops and Essie nail polish. It makes a great comfy, yet fashionable spring outfit.

Green Flash

Our next favorite way to wear Green Flash is to pair it with navy blue. These two colors were made for each other! We found these capri style pants, which are perfect for spring, and put them with this super cute navy and white striped smock blouse. We’ve accessorized this cute outfit with some navy sandals, big navy floppy hat, and Amy Martin shoulder bag.

Green Flash 2

Last, we have this fabulous Lilly Pulitzer Pineapple print sheath style dress. We love the pink with a splash Green Flash! The other two styles were more about toning down this almost neon green, but this one is all about celebrating it! And how perfect are those Nina Forbes satin pumps and Prada clutch? LOVE!
